Studio Assistant Position  


General Information: 

The studio is in the artist’s home in Brentwood. There is a small dog - so applicant must be pet friendly. The hourly rate depends on level of experience and fluency with digital media.  Previous assistant rate was $30/hr. The usual work week is 2 days - 5 hours/day. Days TBD. Applicant must have a reliable means of transportation as no public transport comes to worksite. 

Studio organization work: 

  • Organize and upkeep studio library and files 

  • Check and respond to studio email; prepare and send digital files. Studio email is a Gmail account, and We Transfer is for large files. 

  • Manage and update website (hosted by Squarespace) & Wikipedia page

  • Manage administrative and clerical tasks and stock of studio supplies 

  • Maintain monthly studio bookkeeping with Excel. Previous assistant will train and prepare new assistant in this task. 

Studio digital work: 

  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite required: Light Room, Photoshop, InDesign.

  • Studio runs on Mac Desktop system and uses a large format Epson Printer and Epson pro  scanner. 

  • Maintain digital archives (images and artist’s project documentation). 

  • Terramaster external solid state multi-drive system is used and Backblaze.

  • Prepare digital and print materials for proposals & presentations - PDF files and  PowerPoint. 

  • Assist in layout and design of custom art books. Use InDesign and Blurb publications  mainly. 

  • Prepare files for image production by others – scan and retouch images as needed.

  • Inform artist about and manage necessary equipment upgrades.
